Installing autodnld

This page is designed to be a quick summary of a routine installation with no special issues. If you have more questions, please refer to other web pages or email Intex at autodnld_help@intex.com.

Before you install autodnld, you will need the following pieces of information:
  • Your user name on the Intex ship server (as supplied by Intex)
  • Your password on the Intex ship server (as supplied by Intex)
  • The subdirectory where you place the Intex "cdi" files
  • The subdirectory where you place the Intex "cdu" files
  • What subdirectory you will install autodnld in. The default location is c:\intex\autodnld. We will refer to this as the "autodnld home directory".

  • You will need about 300 megabytes of disk room for the autodnld home directory. Less (100MB) is required if you use a temp_download_subdir in a different drive with more room.

Once you have this information, install autodnld:
  1. Download the self-extracing autodnld setup.
  2. Run the setup once the file has finished downloading.
  3. You will see a "Winzip Self-Extractor" dialog box. The "Unzip to folder" is where autodnld will be installed. Change this location if necessary. Click on the "Unzip button.
  4. A Command Prompt window will appear running autodnld in config mode. This will lead you thru configuring autodnld for your machine.
  5. If you need to run reconfigure autodnld at any point, you can run "autodnld -config".

Follow the prompts on the screen to install autodnld. You will be asked the following questions:
  • What operating system are you running under?
  • What is the autodnld home directory?
  • What is your user name on the Intex ship server?
  • What is your password on the Intex ship server?
  • What is the home directory for the Intex data?
  • To whom do you wish to send email to (from autodnld)?
  • What is the name of your mail server?
  • To what depth do you want to purge CDU data, if at all?

Testing autodnld

Press the start button, and then "run", and then enter this command:
c:\intex\autodnld\scripts\autodnld.exe -t
to run autodnld in test mode. Try running the connectivity test. If it fails, here are steps you can use to find out whether your machine can access *.intex.com:443 port. You may have to talk with your network engineer to resolve this. You can also refer to https download for more information
  • From any internet browser, go to https://ship.intex.com/https_test.html If successful, you should see a success test message.
  • If your network is using a proxy server and you want to try to use it in the same way your browser does, you can try the win_https_wininet flag in your autodnld/scripts/autodnld.ini file.
  • Alternatively, you can use the standard internet tool CURL to have Autonld connect to Intex. CURL has many built-in options to configure simple or complicated internet connections. Documentation here.
  • If you have a proxy server and prefer to configure it manually to access *.intex.com:443, you can provide use the http_session_header flag in your autodnld/scripts/autodnld.ini file.

Updating Autodnld

To update your version of autodnld, go to the Download page and select the most recent Windows version. Once the file has downloaded, run as normal and follow any instructions on screen. Once installation is completed, the installer will start autodnld in config mode. Configuration mode will ask you to re-enter your autodnld password.

Your old autondld.ini file will be saved as a backup file, and a new autodnld.ini file will be written.

Implementing Optional Features

You may want to edit autodnld.ini to add some extra parameters, such as purging of older pooldata files. A list of possible parameters is available
here .

Automatic Updates autodnld.exe

Each time autodnld is run it will check the latest version of autodnld and download the new exe if it is different. You can avoid automatically updating autodnld by adding "skip_update_exe=y" to your autodnld.ini file.
